HORSE ADOPTION DONATIONS:
Most horses are $950; most drafts are $1,600; and most foals
are $950 adoption donation. Most people do not realize how EXPENSIVE
it is to save the life of a horse. Most of the horses come to
the Sanctuary so skinny from lack of food and/or neglect that
it takes a minimum of 6 months to just begin to look like a "real
horse" again, are unwanted since they are seriously injured
and no longer rideable or the owners can not afford to provide
medical care for an illness the horse has. The vet visit for
Coggins, shots including Rabies + West Nile, de-worming, microchipping,
hoof care plus add in the cost of feed, hay and supplements brings
the cost up to approx. $1,600 spent to just make the horse healthy
and available for adoption. (Drafts like to eat even more!)
